I wake early Sunday morning and feel my way to the kettle and the carefully laid out pot and my special HOMER towel.I leave the kettle to boil and feel my way to the toilet. When i return i fill my pot and wet the towel.I can now use the hot wet towel to prize my eyes open carefully.Ah there is Homer,my morning friend.I can now open the curtains and they reveal a sun kissed San Francisco morning.I get excited and wake Monica. We decide we must get out quickly and seize the morning light. No time to change t-shirts.Off we go up the Byres Rd to Tinderbox (it opens at 7 and serves porridge)for our fix of Macchiato and newspapers. We decide to sit outside in the sun.It beats down oppressively but we persevere as it makes feel alive and abroad. Now it's papertime.Me - the arts then the sport ,fashion(for the lovely ladies)and finally the news and jobs.Monica -fashion,sport,arts and news.We read them all - scottish, english, broadsheet, tabloid -2-3 hrs and we're done. This is life - if only we could do it everyday. Why are weekends so short. What happened to the machines. At college i read about machines - robots that would do all the work so we could spend our time in leisure. No mass or parents today - must work.Deadline for album coming up and i've decided to change lots of things as usual but i'm focused and in the zone and works of genius are in progress.I've been flat out between music and work and i desperately need a holiday.Trouble is we are broke.Bought a new fridge and telly and an expensive bed.Still i've just got my first credit card so New York may call too loudly for finance to affect our desire. They have cafes and pancakes and papers------in english.Ah but it was so hot in Glasgow today -what will it be like in NY and will there be mosquitoes.Have'nt been to Paris for a while -maybe we'll go there. and eat mille féaux and drink wine by the Seine.Maybe we'll go down and visit Tom - we miss London. The spring excites me so.I'm always optomistic, full of ideas. It has dragged us backout on to the road with our new trainers.Mine - a pair of Brooks Beast designed for the overpronator.Another overspend but what price for the wind in your face and the sun on your back.I'm starting to feel like the old running postman who used to shuffle round my home town.I don't think i'm going to make the olympics now but maybe i could have a whole new career as a veteran. I'm writing this tuesday trying to hold on to the weekend before it disappears wednesday and i start to yearn for the next one.
